- Am I eligible for grant assistance if I work part time?
Possibly, however this depends on current employment arrangements and the number of hours you work.
- I live in the District of Easington but my business is based in Durham city, am I still eligible for grant assistance?
Unfortunately not, your business must be based in the District of Easington to receive grant funding from EDBS.
- I am sixteen, am I too young to start my own business?
Being young, you may experience problems obtaining funding and banking facilities until you reach 18. However, it is never too early to start planning.
- I have already started trading and have just heard that there are Start up grants available; can I still apply for them?
Yes, you can apply within the first six months of trading but the majority of our start up grants are paid in the first two months.
- Can I apply for more than one grant?
Yes, EDBS has a portfolio of funding. Further information can be found elsewhere on the website.
- Do you manage any property in the district?
We manage Novus Business Centre which provides office accommodation for start up and small businesses. We also have good relationships with local property agents and developers and hold a property register of all available commercial property in the district.
- Is EDBS part of Business Link North East?
No EDBS is not part of Business Link North East, we do however work in partnership.
- Do you hold training events for local businesses?
No, however, East Durham Business Forum organise events throughout the year covering various topics including employment law and funding.
- Do I have to pay for any of the services provided by EDBS?
All advice is offered free of charge, some premium services carry a nominal fee.
- Do you hold detailed economic statistics for the district?
Yes, statistical information for the District of Easington can be supplied by the Economic Development department of EDBS.
