Katie Kiddle, Marketing Adviser

Katie has a Masters Degree in Marketing as well as commercial sales experience.  Marketing Advice is free of charge to businesses based in East Durham and an appointment can be made using the enquiry form on the left hand side of this page.  

Katie advises start up businesses on marketing activity and existing businesses on developing their marketing plans.  Supplementary marketing services are outlined below.

Marketing advice can include marketing planning, communication tools for promotion, corporate branding and web development.

Press Releases

The Marketing Adviser will produce a press release and send to the business services press contact list, if a further list of trade press publications is provided by the client the results are likely to be greatly improved - Charge £100 + VAT inc one amendment

Basic Websites

Option 1 - The Marketing Adviser can train in the production of basic (free) websites in a two or three hour training session - Charge £50 + VAT                    Option 2 - The Marketing Adviser will write the first three pages and train in the maintenance and updating of the website over time, (including image sourcing, adding pages, managing e-mails etc) - Charge £250 + VAT

Marketing Strategy and Planning

In depth Marketing Planning and Strategy development package, five days work tailored to the individual company's needs, including research, situation analysis, strategy development and communications planning one day of which will be used to get up to speed with the customer's business - Charge £800 + VAT

Marketing Grant Overview

Marketing advice and funding is available free of charge to business based in the District of Easington. Eligible businesses include pre-start up to six months old and exisiting businesses older than six months.  The marketing grant has been designed to help fund marketing activities essential to the successful launch and continued of local businesses.

An overview of the start up marketing grant

  • New business up to six months old
  • The business must be based in the District of Easington
  • 50% reimbursement of the total project spend
  • Minimum project spend accepted £500
  • A maximum of £1000 funding available

An overview of the growth marketing grant

  • Businesses six months and older
  • The business must be based in the District of Easington
  • 50% reimbursement of the total project spend
  • Minimum project spend accepted £1000
  • Maximum of £1000 funding available

Eligible activities for both start up and growth grant applications

  • Market research
  • Promotional material (leaflets, flyers, key rings, banners etc.)
  • Advertising (trade journals, business directories, magazines, vehicle signage)
  • Exhibition material
  • Direct mail campaigns
  • Online advertisments/e-mail campaigns
  • Other significant marketing activity with the agreement of the EDBS Marketing Adviser

1. Make an appointment by calling 0191 586 3366

2. Work with the Marketing Adviser to discuss your activity

3. Obtain three quotes for each chosen activity

4. Complete a grant application form and submit this with your quotes to the Marketing Adviser

5. An independent panel will assess your application

6. Once approved you can go ahead with the work

7. On submission of your receipts you will be awarded your grant

Please note: You must wait for approval for your application before you go ahead with the work. No grant funding will be awarded retrospectively.

Grant funding is limited and is awarded on a first come first served basis.
