East Durham Business Service (EDBS) is the Enterprise Agency for the District of Easington.  Part of the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) it offers small and medium sized businesses and those wishing to start their own business the support needed.  Based at Novus Business Centre, in the heart of the business community of Peterlee, EDBS has specialists in business advice, economic development and grant administration.

Established in 2003, EDBS has developed into a highly skilled and professional organisation providing advice on business planning, marketing, retail, business growth and funding as well as Apprenticeships East Durham.  EDBS has two core functions, Business Support and Economic Development.

Business Support

The Business Support team offer independent advice to businesses on a range of topics including Start up, marketing, retail, commercial property and growth and expansion. Funding can also be sought from a range of key partners including OneNorthEast and Business Link.

Economic Development

The Economic Development team carries out work on projects such as improving the smaller industrial estates and compiles all of the statistical information for the East Durham. The marketing of EDBS, skills levels and community involvement, tourism and the Apprenticeships East Durham Scheme are also carried out by the Economic Development team. The team work with various organisations such as Aim High Routeback, the Local Strategic Partnership and the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative.

East Durham Business Service has the following aims:

• Develop an entrepreneurial culture in East Durham
• Foster business growth and business survival
• Generate quality and sustainable employment for local people
• Promote lifelong learning and skills development amongst the existing and future workforce
• Develop the physical infrastructure to meet business needs
• Attract investment into East Durham

Complaints Procedure
